Assessment
Our Central Intake Department will complete a clinical / medical assessment to determine the appropriate level of care. The assessment includes the patient’s family, social, financial, medical, and psychiatric histories, as well as a current physical assessment. The assessment will result in a recommended level of care using American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria, which may include withdrawal management (detoxification), residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, or outpatient treatment.
Preparing for Your Visit
Expectations of Patients In-Residence
In-Residence – Personal Property
Due to space considerations, patients in-residence are limited to what they are allowed to bring into treatment. Each treatment program has developed specific outlines for allowable clothing and personal items. Below is a general outline of allowed clothing:
- 10 outfits
- 7 undergarments
- 3 pairs of shoes (1 pair sneaker, 1 pair dress shoes, 1 pair house shoes)
- 2 sets of sleepwear (pajamas)
- 1 each of any of the following items: jacket/coat, robe, purse, belt, boots (if winter)
- Hygiene and tobacco products
During the intake process, outfits, undergarments and sleepwear will be sent to the laundry prior to being brought to the unit. This will reduce the possibility of unwanted elements entering the units.
Patients who arrive at Haymarket Center from a confined environment (e.g., jail, hospital facility) will have three days to have items brought to Haymarket Center.
